Using frames: Common bugs, limitations and problems

Current implementations of frames have several bugs. There are also things that appear to be bugs, but actually are limitations in the syntax for frames. These limitations are explained in more detail in the "What's wrong with frames?" article.

When image loading is off, images load anyway

This is indeed a bug in the browser (Netscape only). Sometimes it happens, and sometimes it doesn't. :-) There is nothing you can do about it.

A specific combination of frames can't be bookmarked

This is one of the serious limitations in frames as proposed by Netscape. The reason is that frames are not addressable, there is no URL associated with each frameset. Only the initial document can be bookmarked or linked to.

The URL always stays the same, when following a link
